SEWING CLUB PODCAST EP 13 | GEORGIA SERIES

SEWING CLUB PODCAST EP 13 | GEORGIA SERIES

We made it to Episode # 13 sew pals...the final review episode of Sewing Club Podcast for 2024! We've got a fun lil' q and a style episode to close the year out so be sure to tune in to that. But for now, we're delighted to bring you all the details of the Georgia Series pattern!

Pattern: Georgia Series by Elizabeth Suzann

Size: OSM (One Size Minus)

Fabric: Viscose / unknown from the stash!

Why did we choose this pattern? I've always admired Elizabeth Suzann and the aesthetic of her RTW brand. And that we as the sewing community get to create the very garments that non-sewists have to buy? That's exciting...

Let's talk about the pattern! We chose the Georgia because it's the most approachable for all different levels and sewing abilities, in that it doesn't have too many tricky parts and it's an instant wearable win. A great beginner project! As the name suggests, it comes with a 'series' of pattern views and options. I chose the midi length dress in the hopes of replacing a lookalike silk dress I loved and lost a while ago...
This is a very quick and easy kind of sew! Front and back, cuffs and neckline...et voila! I could easily make four of these and keep them on rotation and the top is even more wearable than the dress if that's possible. It took only a couple of hours from start to finish and the result: a chic wardrobe staple!
My favourite details are the cuffs! They really pull the whole thing together. Because they're doubled over and have the extra weight in them, they pull the sleeves down and helps them to drape over the body in a casual yet put together way. In hindsight I should have just made another silk version! The viscose is a little hot for a Queensland Summer but it's not a deal breaker. If I get my hands on some nice black crepe de chine, you best believe there will be another Georgia in the future...

You can listen to Sewing Club Episode #13 on Spotify Apple Podcasts or Audible (insert other favourite poddy platform). Here you'll find all the show notes and we'll reveal the pattern for Episode #15 (in January 2025), so do join with us in sewing along at home!
